Those of you who follow my column inThe Kansas City Star are going to have to give up your, as one of my friends puts it, "double shot of JB on Saturday."
Don't worry, though, that doesn't mean I'll no longer have a Star column. I'll just be (now to paraphrase Maxine Nightingale... weird, I always thought that was Captain & Tennille) getting right back to where I started from.
Wednesdays, that is.
This means you won't be seeing a print column from me this Saturday. Instead, look for me on Wednesday, April 8th in the Northland News insert. And, of course, you can still find me online on Saturday, on my Mom2Mom blog.
Of course, in the back of my mind, I'm remembering my Star Magazine (Sunday) column that so unceremoniously blinked out of existence, and now with the demise of the Saturday column, my humor career seems more precarious than ever.
"Of course you'll still write humor," someone said to me, when I was whining about the "what ifs" ("What if the paper goes under?" "What if they cut my column next?" "What if newspapers die entirely?"). "You couldn't NOT write humor."
Honestly, I don't know. The newspaper column was my Big Humor Writing Goal. Syndication was my Big Humor Writing Dream. Now I'm just really, really happy to be going only a little bit backwards. Weird how these things turn out, isn't it?
Aw, let's not dwell on it today. Instead, let's be happy the column's still running at all and... shoot, let's dance!:
And I'll see y'all on Wednesday!
